Fraxel FTX is a fractional laser platform that operates at two wavelengths, 1550 nm and 1927 nm. That combination is the point of the device: the 1550 nm wavelength reaches deeper into the dermis for texture, wrinkles and scars, while the 1927 nm wavelength works superficially on pigment and epidermal sun damage. One device therefore treats both superficial and deeper skin problems, in the same session or in different sessions, without changing platform. It is a strong choice for sun induced freckles, age spots (lentigines) and other hyperpigmentation, superficial wrinkles and texture irregularities, and it is also used for precancerous actinic keratoses and field photodamage under medical supervision. It is non ablative, meaning the surface layer is largely left intact, so recovery is usually shorter than after ablative CO2 or Erbium resurfacing.
