Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation

Have you been thinking of having your chin enhanced but don’t want to go through surgery or a long and painful recovery? A non-surgical augmentation can add definition to your jaw, and increase the length, width, or the projection to your chin.

How Is It Done?

There is no solid implant with a non-surgical augmentation. Instead, a derma-filler is injected through a thin needle in small amounts and precise locations to give you the look you want. There is total control over the shape and contours created from the injections of the filler. The procedure is usually performed in two short treatments spread 3 to 4 weeks apart.

There are a variety of filler options for chin augmentation.

  • Juvederm Voluma is a gel form of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-produced substance that is highly compatible with the body. No pre-treatment allergy tests are necessary. Results last up to 2 years.
  • Vollure is the newest member of the Juvederm family. Results last for about 18 months.
  • Restylane is also hyaluronic acid-based. Results last between 6 to 9 months.
  • Restylane Lyft, another member of the Restylane family, lasts for about 6 to 9  months. Patients may receive touch-ups at 3-month intervals.

What Are the Advantages?

There are several advantages to non-surgical chin augmentation. It avoids the risk of traditional surgery (pain, bruising, possibility of infection, or the implant moving out of place). Recovery time is much shorter. There may be some minor swelling, bruising, and tenderness after the treatment, but these usually only last for 2 to 3 days.

Because the results are somewhat temporary, adjustments can be made as your face changes (as it does over time).

Another advantage is financial. Non-surgical chin augmentation costs only a fraction of what a surgical implant costs.

Its Effects Are Reversible!

Perhaps one of the most compelling advantages of non-surgical chin augmentation is that the effects are reversible. As with all hyaluronic acid gel fillers, the body metabolizes it with time. If the procedure is performed using Voluma and a patient dislikes the results for any reason, Dr. Gallacher can reverse the effects. Voluma degrades with an injection of the enzyme hyaluronidase.
