Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are treatments performed by a esthetician to rejuvenate the skin. A chemical solution, applied by a trained specialist, will remove the epidermis, or the top layer of your skin. Similar in concept to Microneedling, but using a different method, chemical peels create controlled trauma to the skin. This kicks in your body’s healing process and stimulates collagen production. The new collagen created results in improved skin elasticity and a smoothed texture. Chemical peels can be used for a number of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Age spots
  • Photodamage
  • Freckles
  • Acne scars
  • Melasma
  • Improved skin texture & elasticity

Chemical Peels are performed at Dermatology and Laser Centre. We offer a variety of types and strengths of peels to match your skin type and concerns. The three brands of chemical peels we administer are SkinMedica, Obagi and SkinCeuticals.

Micropeel Plus 20 Solution
a medium strength peel and contains 20% unbuffered, unneutralized glycolic acid at a low pH to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, visible skin imperfections, and visible signs of photodamage

Advanced Corrective Peel
dramatically diminishes the appearance of discoloration, while smoothing texture and refining the appearance of pores, to restore a brighter, more clarified skin tone.

What Can I Expect After My Chemical Peel?

As a normal part of the skin’s regeneration process after any of our chemical peels, the treated area will be red and swollen afterward. You can expect continued redness and some peeling for:

  • Up to 5 days following a mild peel
  • About 2 weeks following a medium to strong peel; Dr. Gallacher may recommend or prescribe medication to alleviate discomfort that may be caused by our stronger chemical peels.
