Kybella Helps Keep Your Chin Up!

Kybella delivers improved profiles for those who wish to destroy under-chin fat cells. Fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness, ages your profile and makes people look heavy. Submental fullness can be caused by genetics. It can also develop with age or weight gain. Once completed, Kybella treatments destroy the ability of fat cells beneath the chin to accumulate or store fat. Patients experience an improved profile and more youthful and healthy appearance.

How Does Kybella Work?

Kybella uses a synthetic deoxycholic acid to breakdown and destroy fat cells beneath the chin. Naturally occurring deoxycholic acid aids the body with the absorption of dietary fat. Once the cells come in contact with Kybella, they no longer store or accumulate fat. Because of the precision used by Dr. Gallacher, all other cells remain healthy and intact.

How Does Dr. Gallacher Administer the Treatment?

Dr. Gallacher administers multiple small injections with a fine-gauge needle into fat cells under the chin. The process takes about fifteen to twenty minutes. The number of injections required and the number of treatments vary depending on the severity of the accumulated under-chin fat. Patients will need to wait at least a month between treatments and should not receive more than six.

How Much Recovery Time is Involved?

Patients describe the treatment as a series of pinches. After treatments, you should take it easy for a week or so. Expect some swelling, bruising, and numbness of the injection areas.

Are There Possible Side Effects With Kybella Treatments?

As with any injection-based treatment, Kybella may cause some swelling, bruising, and numbness at the injection sites. Some patients report mild pain, redness and areas of hardness. You should inform Dr. Gallacher if an uneven smile, weakened facial muscles, or difficulty swallowing develops. Side effects often resolve on their own.

Inform Dr. Gallacher if you’ve had previous cosmetic treatments, surgeries, or medical conditions near your face, neck, or chin.

Is Kybella Safe?

Kybella is the only FDA approved injectable treatment for treating moderate to severe fat under the chin. Physicians began using Kybella in 2015.
