Non-Surgical Nose Job
Your nose has a huge impact on your overall appearance. Until recently, the only way to change your nose was with rhinoplasty surgery, otherwise known as a nose job.
Now there is an increasingly popular, non-surgical option available in the form of injectables.
Are You A Candidate For A Non-Surgical Nose Job?
If you have a congenital defect, breathing problems, or have had nasal trauma, you may need to go the traditional route with surgery. However, if wish to make a minor change in the appearance of your nose, a non-surgical nose job may be a good option for you. An injectable filler can improve:
- The appearance of bumps on the nose
- Dents, hollowness, or indentations
- An asymmetric or crooked nose
- A flat nasal bridge
- A droopy tip
What Are the Advantages?
Dr. Gallacher will first apply a numbing cream to reduce any discomfort you may feel. Then a derma-filler will be injected in the appropriate places. Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Vollure and Voluma are all injectable options for this procedure. The results will last about 6-9 months with Restylane, up to 12 months with Restylane Lyft, up to 18 months with Vollure and up to 2 years using Voluma. Juvederm Voluma provides excellent, long lasting results and is a gel form of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-produced substance that is highly compatible with the body. Pre-treatment allergy tests are not required. The procedure itself usually only takes 15 to 30 minutes, and it is completely reversible if the patient is not satisfied. The filler will naturally and gradually be broken down by the body, leaving no trace behind.
There is virtually no downtime with the non-surgical nose job. Patients may have some swelling, bruising, or tenderness (especially at the tip of the nose), but these side effects are mild and last only 3 or 4 days.
If you tend to bruise easily, you should avoid taking blood thinners (including alcohol; anti-inflammatories like aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, and Aleve; or supplements like ginkgo biloba or St. John’s Wort) for 1 week before and 2 days after treatment.
Another advantage is financial. A non-surgical nose job costs only a fraction of what traditional rhinoplasty surgery costs.
Its Effects Are Reversible!
Perhaps one of the most compelling advantages of a non-surgical nose job is that the effects are reversible. As with all hyaluronic acid gel fillers, the body metabolizes it with time. If the procedure is performed using Voluma and a patient dislikes the results for any reason, Dr. Gallacher can reverse the effects. Voluma degrades with an injection of the enzyme hyaluronidase.
