Transform Your Skin With A Microneedling Treatment

What Is Microneedling?

Micro-needling is a non-invasive skin resurfacing procedure for smoothing and refining the complexion. It is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy. Dr. Gallacher uses the Rejuvapen microneedling device with tiny, sterile needles.  It is used on the face or other areas to create hundreds of microscopic cuts into the skin. These tiny injuries send signals to the body to heal itself. The body then begins the healing process by releasing chemicals and stimulating collagen production (which slows as we age). Revitalized, smoother, more youthful skin is the result.

Dr. Gallacher can also utilize the microscopic ducts created during microneedling to apply medical grade topicals for increased penetration and effectiveness. She will work with you to create a customized treatment for your unique skin and concerns.

What Conditions Can Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling can be used for skin rejuvenation, evening skin tone and texture, to treat acne scarring, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, lax skin, enlarged pores and more.

What does It Feel Like?

Some patients describe the sensation as similar to being swiped with sandpaper or an electric toothbrush on the treatment area. That feeling may be stronger (around the eyes, for example) or more subtle, depending on the sensitivity of the area.

Is it Safe?

Microneedling is a widely used treatment, proven safe and effective to recapture the brighter, smoother, skin of youth.  Dr. Gallacher’s Rejuvapen devices are the only tips that have a medical grade HEPA filter to eliminate suction and clogging while also blocking airborne blood pathogens.   Following treatment, you should keep your skin away from the sun. Your skin will be more vulnerable to UV rays right after the treatment, so we recommend wearing a high SPF sunblock. Dr. Gallacher can recommend one of our medical grade skin products to protect and enhance the results of your microneedling procedure.

What Can I Expect During and After the Procedure?

Microneedling takes about ½ hour requires no down time. Immediately following a session, patients may have some tiny dots of blood or redness, but the redness can be covered with make-up after 24 hours and should completely subside after a few days. You will be free to resume normal activity right away. The newly emerging collagen, increased firmness and decrease in lines and wrinkles will last for years.
